56?! 56?!?!!! GREAT! now that's all I can think about! I'LL KILL YOU YOU NO GOOD 56ER!!!!!!

Just a little, somewhat obscure "Futurama" reference in celebration of my 56th post.
Anyway, I thought I'd just start up a topic on one of my favorite Hamton shorts "Drawn and Buttered". It follows the basic formula of many of Hambone's solo cartoons, in that it involves the portly little pig trying to accomplish a seemingly mundane and simple task(in this case, trying to cook a lobster) only to have everything quickly devolve into a chaotic and over the top typhoon of violence and destruction. One thing that makes this one standout from most other Hamton cartoons is that it doesn't end with Hammy suffering from a psychotic meltdown, followed by him going on a violent rampage. There's a lot to love here, the scene with the wallets, Hamton's sudden Darth Vader voice, Hamton interrupting the cartoon at it's most tense moment in order to tell the viewers at home "I regret that you had to be here to witness this, I won't be much longer" then he goes right back to trying to murder the lobster, I bust a gut everytime at that part. :D The only downside to this one is that it's too short. Had it been longer and had they managed to keep up the frantic and non-stop pace in that extra time, "Drawn and Buttered" would most likely have more recognition than it does. Despite it's meager running time, what is there is pure undiluted cartoony gold. 8-)

Hamton: "And now, young side walker, YOU WILL DIE!"
Lobster: "This is the guy I came in here with?"

Definitely Hamton at his best. Just goes to show that there's more to his repertoire than just "straight-man doormat" and "psychotic meltdown when pushed too far."
