I think this is one of the better episodes. It's got a lot of the show's characters in it, it has a lot of fun little gags, and it's got Babs, Fifi and Shirley in cheerleader outfits. What's not to like? ;) I didn't notice until now, but there are two Elmyra's carrying the stretcher whenever someone is carried away. I love the cheers that they do, too, even when they're cheering about how bad the team is and how they're going to loose. I also like the way Dizzy just plows through one of the Perfecto players, and Babs looses a contact lense. That was genuis. I just have to wonder if she really does have brown eyes, or if that was just for the gag? I love it when little bits of potential behind the scenes information like that pop up in the show.

This was one of the better stories that I can recall from the show. I also liked some of the classic gags (like elmyra carrying both ends of the stretcher by herself). The "Capacity crowd" bit was funny too.

Sylvester says something like:
"It looks like another capacity crowd here today!"

And then it cuts to a family in the stands.
"Hello! I'm Mrs. Capacity, this is Mr. Capacity, and these are the little Capacitys." ;)

However, that bit wasn't in this episode, at least not on the DVDs. Was it from some other episode, or did it get cut out?

Now that I can't remember... I don't have the DVD's either. Checking the Wikipedia Episode guide, it might be in "The Wacko World of Sports" "Hero Hamton" (where he fights Monty... I think that may have been in a stadium), but most likely I think it might be "Son of the Wacko World of Sports" in the third segment with the Acme Acres' Summer Olympics part.

Reviewing Youtube, it doesn't seem like it would fit anywhere in the Acme Bowl, so I'm pretty sure it's not that one. However, I did find this "blooper reel" someone made that's interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ev1StK2fhE

love that YouTube! But since "you never finish, you just run out of time", it makes you wonder what things did get fixed in that episode!

Brings back memories of being a Simpsons intern though. "How did you spot that Bart's eye was yellow for one frame?!?!" "I don't know... I saw a flicker..." "What flicker? It was one frame!!" But I fixed that eye ball!

As for Babs' eye, it reminds me of "Daizy's Purple Thumb" on Wubbzy. the problem there? Daizy had a purple thumb! & it needed to be in nearly every shot! ...& it wasn't... the problem is that the purple thumb was added to the model, not part of it so it's very easy to miss on the animator end. I think we ended up leaving 2 shots w/o purple thumb because it was so small in the background or a blur as she ran by that the reasoning was people won't see it anyway. The time to get it fixed vs other stuff to get fixed & time left in production wasn't worth it.

Also brings back memories of Hellboy Animated. I was in charge of retakes on that one. I get the trading card set & sure enough... one of the stills is of a retake I missed... the gloves were colored flesh tone for that one scene... You win some, you loose some. You just hope those you miss end up being so small compared to the main action that no one notices. As another saying goes, "if they notice the little problems, it's not a good script." (or multiple viewings by rabid fanboys/girls ;) )

I think that Hamton & Fifi were really meant to be together. I hope that they make a happy couple if they ever get married, I'm sure that they would be happy like two peas on a pod. ;)
