I was surprised by how good it was. It was lacking the fart jokes and cheesy one liners that Blue Sky usually has, yet still felt like the studios work. I think that Ice Age 5 bombing gave them the kick in the pants they needed to do great films like this one.

Thanks for agreeing with me! Since Blue Sky is a good studio outside of those Ice Age sequels, getting more original content might make them a worthy competitor to Pixar.

I didn't mind Rio. While it was nothing special, it was miles ahead of the newest Ice Age movie. It seems that they're stretching for ideas so much that they're rehashing the previous movie, only with an asteroid involved instead of a continental drift.

I did too. They showed that when Blue Sky isn't doing Ice Age sequels, they can be good films with their own identity. I just hope that Fox doesn't force them to make more Rio sequels.

I agree. As god as the 1st 2 were, doing more would be milking the franchise past its prime. At least Blue Sky confirmed they will be doing no more Ice Age sequels. The only way they could be decent would be if they brought back the human characters and darker tone from the 1st film.

Blue Sky really loves casting celebrities just for the heck of it in their films. At least this one makes sense, since John Cena's a wrestler, and bullfighting's pretty much the Mexican equivalent to wrestling.

I thought that EVERY animation studio casts their movies like that anymore.

While almost every animation studio does it, Blue sky is the biggest offender of this. The worst case was in Epid, which had Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, and... Pitbull?!
