I know most people are comparing the Warner trio to cats or dogs but I've thought of a few species that seen to fit them even closer:

What do you think? The only problem would be the long ears but it could be possible they could have some genetic deformation.

After looking at them, those animals only vaugly resemble the Warners. Also, in the song "What are We?" the Warners have stated not to be any kind of animal and that what they are in fact is cute.

If the Warners ARE some type of animal, I'm pretty sure they are some species of mongoose/civet or lemur instead of cats or dogs. They just look too exotic in my opinion.

While I agree, the Warners were created in the 30s, back when most cartoon characters barely resembled their species. Back then, they could've easily passed as dogs.
