Seriously? He's practically their 2nd most iconic character, next to Mickey. Even outside the cartoons he gets no respect. At least Europe treats him well.

I know, right? You'd think that being part of the "fab 5" would get him a lot of attention. But since "everybody hates Donald", they barely use him.

With Donald Duck...It's kinda been that way since the 1990's...

In the 1940's, Donald Duck was more popular than Mickey Mouse!
In the 1950's, Donald Duck was seen as a equal to Mickey!
In the 1960's through the 1980's...it looked like this...Mickey, Donald, and Goofy!
By the 1990's...it seemed that it became Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Daisy...
Now it seems that It's the same way...looks like no one wants a character who's negative and can't keep his own clothes on...

Poor Donald...I even feel the same way with another group of cartoons...

The reason you mentioned is why Gabby Goat from Looney Tunes didn't last long. Since the audience found Gabby's grouchy behavior more annoying than funny, he was gone after 3 shorts.

Maybe that's why Carl Barks didn't like Ducktales. Donald was only in 1 episode of that, even though I thought it was very respectful to the comics.

That's a shame. I like Gabby.

I never even read the comics so I have no clue what they were like. I might purchase a collection from Ebay, however.

I do strongly recommended the life and times of Scrooge McDuck

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I'll buy that one on Ebay.

You could say that he was Yamcha before Yamcha even existed.

I think that was one of the flaws of the original ducktales because their want to focus on the relationship between Scrooge and the nephews , that Donald wasn 't in it that often so it good he getting some focus . I also wanted to see the boys mother and father.

Yeah they might as well use him. I mean really, up until 2013 or so, the classic characters weren't doing much of anything anyways. :|

You know, another thing that I really want to see from this new show is the Beagle Boys. They've always been a major part of the Scrooge McDuck mythos and the original animated series was no different. ;) It'd be really bizarre if they never showed up in the new show. Maybe they're saving them for a surprise reveal down the road? One can only hope! :geek: It's going to be fascinating to witness a modern interpretation of them. Even though their iconic look would likely be compromised.... oh well, what are you going to do? :P
