Hahahaha, as a child I never got the relevance of that, and yet it would make my parents chuckle, but when I watched the film again a few months ago I was rolling on the floor laughing when I realized it was a parody of the sound systems. lol

Gee, I wonder if George Lucas or some obsessed Star Wars fan had something to do with that little reference.

There was a similar parody on The Simpsons that was actually requested by Lucas (Grandpa Simpson going "turn it up" because he couldn't hear yet everyone else had to duck & cover). I wouldn't be surprised since Spielberg was so close to Lucas if something was up. But then it's just funny!

As much as a joke as that was, and a great scene, there really was some truth to it... especially one time when I was in a theatre when they had the sound inexplicably cranked (to the point where they actually turned it down due to complaints) and they played the infamous scene.

You know you have a good sound system when you can make the walls and seats shake... and the audience flee.

I remember the one from the Simpsons. Grampa had a great line there. :) But I think the Tiny Toon version was better overall. I still make it a habit to bring ear plugs when I go to a theater to see a movie, even though I think the volume level has gotten better over the years. It used to be quite loud.

I remember this scene. I think I laughed louder than the sound system, to be perfectly honest.

The Audience is now DEAF! Almost like the clasic "THX" Logo that they used in certain disney movies. Take Bambi for exaple.

Good parody.

One on my favorite films "Rocky Horror" has that THUD Sound!

I want a big screen with a sound system, so I can experiment with THX or THUD or whatever.
