Let me share my only problem with Animaniacs with you.
The Warner trio often seems like three rascals who basically annoy everyone they meet. During the entire first episode they torment Dr. Scratchansniff who doesn't do anything bad to them. They often annoy people who hasn't provoced them (most of them aren't even real villains!) yet they always win. I know WB wanted something different from other cartoons that put much effort into making their characters likable but I think they overdid it. Only Wakko is likable due to his silly innocence.

Yeah, during the beginning they sometimes tormented those who didn't deserve it. But they were kids and locked in a tower for a good half-century. Most times later on it was just their reaction to someone's rudeness. The television broadcaster, the flight passenger, the candy store owner. What better way to learn patience than to have to deal with the Warner siblings?

That's how it is sometimes, zaniness has no real pattern. Atleast they didn't end up like Daffy Duck. Going from the innovator of cartoon insanity to becoming a character who was a hollow husk of his former self.......Up until "The Looney Tunes Show" I seriously wondered why anyone even bothered calling him DAFFY anymore. :?

The payoff was very disappointing, honestly all that drama over a little plastic surgery. :x

Back to the point, I don't really understand the huge hype around Animaniacs (not to mention Pinky and the Brain). I enjoy the cartoon but I don't really care for the characters themselves. So I was suprised to find such a huge fanbase compared to other cartoons from the era. Many people seem to think Animaniacs was the best cartoon from the 90's... which I disagree with. The 90's had many great cartoons that are underrated.

To me the Warners were just adult jerks in child bodies and have powers of bend reality

IMHO best character on the entire show was Slappy :)

You know what's funny? Slappy was quite a crotchety old maid and yet the fandom still somehow sexualized the bejeezus out of her. :?

Luckily I've yet to see that, and if my luck continues I never will.

Don't feel too bad, it seems they sexualize anything that's even remotely female these days.

Please, don't remind me! :x I sometimes wonder if that was the only reason she was originally created. :P

The Warners likability varied from episodes to episode. In some they can come off as too annoying (Wally Llama, Fair game), or too cruel (Broadcast nuisance, Anchors a-Warners). Most of the time they're just fun loving rascals. Also, Lola bunny was created as WB's attempt at "Girl power!". In doing that, they wouldn't let her have flaws or participate in the slapstick for being a girl, making her a borderline Mary Sue.
